STAFF REPORT ISB: The agricultural yield enhancement through innovative technologies were highlighted in a two day AIP Annual Conference on Agricultural Innovations for Improved Productivity and Economic Growth. The conference was organized by International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) in collaboration with USAID and Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC).
Federal Minister, Ministry of National Food Security and Research (MNFSandR), Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan attended the inaugural session of the conference as chief guest. Sikndar Bosan while addressing on the occasion laid vehement stress on need of improvement research and development (RandD) facilities through optimum funding in order to bring innovation in agricultural sector for production enhancement and food security insurance.
Federal Minister also pointed out that adaptation of advanced technologies can reduce cost and enhance efficiency in farming therefore it is necessary to work on those lines for improvement of the agri industry.
Country Representative CIMMYT, Dr Imtiaz Muhammad gave a detailed presentation on the AIP projects and informed the participants about the impact of these projects on the overall productivity.
