The first-ever Partnership for Climate Action (PCA) conference was held in Pakistan from February 14–16, 2023, and was organized by the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST).

The conference, with the theme “Science for Sustainability,” was organized in association with the German Red Cross, Pakistan Red Crescent, International Federation of Red Crosses, International Rescue Committee, and Welt Hunger Hilfe.

It was sponsored by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the German Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross, and the International Federation of Red Cross.

Dr. Rizwan Riaz insisted that NUST has taken an active role in creating cutting-edge tools and technologies to handle the problems posed by the climate change. He stated that the university takes its social responsibility seriously and has aligned all of its core functions with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

He also emphasised the significance of the Partnership for Climate Action, which serves as a forum for exchanging best practices, working together on fresh projects, and utilizing resources collectively to advance initiatives.

The three-day event included youth activities, expert panel discussions, a conference, an exhibition, the launch of the Climate Action Plan, and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.

The main goal was to unite and link youth, academia, and other stakeholders in order to forge significant alliances for tackling climate change challenges.

Additionally, the conference gave NUST the chance to present its climate-resilient technologies for possible deployment and commercialization, as well as to work closely with stakeholders from the government and development sector to hasten the transition to a sustainable future.
