Public sector Development Programme (PSDP) has received 537.646 million rupees for improving agriculture in order to give an uplift to this sector and food security. Initially, the PSDP demanded Rs. 573.646 million for grooming of agriculture sector after their survey done for food security risk in the country.
PSDP under the flag of Ministry of National Food Security and Research had used the released funds in different projects in 2016-17. Agriculture development program has received an investment of Rs. 195.447 million for research against the total fund of Rs. 195.447 million.
Government has also released 50 million Rs. for the production of hybrid seeds locally that can increase and improve crop production.
Research for agriculture was the keen area and has received Rs. 47.95 million for establishing new research cum demonstrative Institute at Seakach, Wana South Waziristan, North Waziristan Agency (FATA) Tank and Matora, Laki Marwat and upgrading of an arid zone research institute to the level of AZRC.
Last year for the development programme the government has invested Rs. 27.145 million for milk and poultry supply system improvement and livestock production in Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan to increase meat and milk production.
Government has invested Rs. 25.725 million for seeking skills and knowledge by collaborating with Pak-China cooperation in agriculture research and development programme.
