STAFF REPORT LHR: A high level meeting aimed at improving the food
security in the Punjab province was held. The numbers of challenges agitating food
security such as substandard food, unhygienic environments of food production
etc. were highlighted and various opportunities to cash in were also discussed.
Shehbaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab presided the meeting.
CM Punjab said while speaking in the meeting, “Stern action is imperative to be
taken in order to curb the menace of adulterated, unhygienic, substandard foods
and no one could be allowed to play with human lives.” The steps taken by PFA to
ensure food security are implausible, he added.
Director General, Punjab Food Authority (PFA) gave a detailed presentation on
initiatives of PFA and also greeted government of Punjab for taking keen interest
in this issue of prime significance.
