Webedia Gaming Europe, a division of media technology company Webedia that will cover fifteen countries and have its headquarters in London, UK, is set to launch.

With leading brands in 15 countries, more than 90 million monthly unique viewers, and 2.1 billion video views, Webedia Gaming has a sizable presence in the gaming and esports sectors, in part because of the content producers it works with, like Inoxtag and Domingo.

The company acquired French developer Scimob, who created the popular game 94%, in 2016. However, the company’s gaming ambitions are being advanced by this move.

After serving for five years as Facebook’s EMEA Sales Director for Video Games, industry veteran Catalina Lou has been named senior vice president of global gaming at the new office. Lou previously served as both the sales and marketing director at Glu Mobile and the general manager of EA’s Play4Free division.

Lou will lead the company’s international expansion, develop the publishing assets and influencer offerings already in place, and look for new business opportunities in her new position.

The advantages of mobile gaming

The accessibility of mobile gaming makes it a desirable platform not only for new players but also for businesses looking to enter the games industry or grow their presence there.

Millions of consumers in developing nations are using their smartphones to play games, and game developers on other platforms are expanding their mobile gaming presence as well. The goal of Webedia is to become a point of contact for customers and partners in the gaming sector.

Given that Webedia already houses successful mobile developers, it is likely that the business is looking to increase its involvement with the industry and contribute to its growth.

Notably, the announcement notes that mobile continues to be the most lucrative gaming platform of all and that the new office aims to “strengthen links with international hubs and contribute to the development of the industry on the European market with the main players in the sector.”

A new partnership with developer Masseka was recently announced by the French Embassy in Senegal.
