ICE&E Organizes First Extension Leadership Development Workshop

The Institute of Continuing Education and Extension (ICE&E) hosted the “First Extension Leadership Development Workshop” at the Ravi Campus Pattoki of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore.

The workshop’s objectives were to build participants’ capacity on the entire farming system, rural development, extension approaches, and various innovative teaching tools and communication skills.

The first session of the extension leadership development workshop was presided over by Dr. Hassan Mahmood Warriach, Director (ICE&E), and was attended by 25 faculty members and students from Livestock Assistant Diploma (LAD) affiliated institutes in Layya, Jhang, and Pattoki. 

Dr. Hassan Mahmood Warriach, speaking on the occasion, stated that a multidisciplinary approach to extension education is the only way to improve farmer livelihood and profitability. Ms. Humera Iqbal, Research Manager, and Abdul Aziz facilitated the workshop to help participants understand creative facilitation methods and the role of livestock assistants in extension.

Participants will launch an extension program in 10-15 villages near each LAD affiliated institute as a result of each training workshop. Faculty members and their students will improve farm advisory services to farmers in various villages in order to increase livestock farmers’ productivity and profitability. Participants were also given a framework to help them improve their scientific writing skills. 

Various aspects discussed during workshop related to latest technical knowledge regarding animal husbandry & communication skills and scientific writing tools.

A leadership development workshop is a training programme or seminar that assists individuals in developing the skills and knowledge required to become effective leaders. Communication, decision-making, problem-solving, team-building, and strategic planning are some of the topics covered in these workshops.

They can be delivered in person or online, and they can be geared toward leaders at all levels of an organization, from entry-level managers to senior executives. A leadership development workshop is designed to help participants become more effective leaders who can lead their teams and organizations to greater success.
