Under its Research Support Initiatives in Science and Technology, the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) has considered 141 research proposals in ten scientific fields for the fiscal year 2021–22.

According to the annual performance report for the fiscal year 2021–2022, 72 of the total 141 proposals were in the process, while 27 were approved for funding by the Executive Committee at a total cost of Rs. 95.537 million.

A total of Rs. 25.672 million was released as the first instalment of previously approved projects. In contrast, 54 research projects remained active, and a total of Rs. 5.607 million was released to cover outstanding instalments and evaluation fees.

Agricultural Sciences, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Sciences or Maths, Earth Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Health Sciences, Environmental Sciences, and Physics were among the scientific fields represented in the project proposals.

These projects received 19 progress reports (semiannual, first, second, and final) in total. PSF staff reviewed semi-annual reports, while annual and final reports were sent to subject experts for evaluation to assess the projects’ interim progress.

Nine research papers were published in national and international journals based on the findings of three completed projects. In addition, two Ph.D. and seven M.Phil./M.Sc. (Hons) students secured their respective degrees while working as Research Associates in these completed projects.
