City School Signs MoU To Introduce Pearson Edexcel Qualifications

Pearson and City School will work together to bring Pearson Edexcel qualifications, supporting resources, and professional development courses to select City School branches in Pakistan, beginning with schools in the South region.

Pearson-Edexcel and The City School, Pakistan’s largest network of private educational institutions, have collaborated and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support students’ learning by providing world-class qualifications and ensuring the provision of assessment services and international academic qualifications.

Mr. Shahzad Muhammad Khan, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of The City School, and Ms. Kathryn Booth, Director of Pearson Schools Qualifications, Middle East, North Africa, Pakistan, and Turkey, signed the memorandum of understanding at The City School’s head office. The senior leadership from both organisations attended the ceremony.

Pearson will provide online teacher training courses to prepare teachers for the relevant Pearson Edexcel exam syllabus under the terms of the MoU.

The City School will not offer any competing international GCSE examinations for the Pearson Edexcel subjects to students. City school students will benefit from the official Pearson curriculum and course preparation books, while teachers will benefit from online teacher resource packs and online training courses that support each official course preparation in all available subjects.

Ms. Kathryn Booth, Director of Pearson Schools Qualifications, stated on the occasion that The City School is a forerunner in the education sector and that the collaboration would usher in a new era of learning. She also stated that this Memorandum of Understanding will serve as a milestone towards students’ advanced learning opportunities in Pakistan.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, COO of The City School, Mr. Shahzad Khan, stated, “I congratulate my team at The City School and everyone at Pearson Education for this partnership, and I am confident that this collaboration will be beneficial in bringing educational excellence to our schools.” “Our priority at City School has always been to provide better academic opportunities and exposure to international qualifications.”
