HEC & DAAD collaboration for faculty exchange program

Higher Education Commission (HEC) is looking for faculty exchange between Pakistan and German institutions. Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr. Tariq Banuri valued the enduring mutual collaboration between HEC and DAAD (German Academic Exchange Program).

HEC encourages Pakistani students going to study into German universities, to build up networking, and to develop research association and come back to dole out Pakistan.

Germany hosts Pakistani aspirants who win HEC scholarships to study in Germany if any query occurs then the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) representatives guide them in all academic issues.

HEC Overseas PhD Scholarship Programme, 700 Pakistani PhD scholars are studying in German universities, while 400 students have completed their studies and returned to Pakistan around 60 PhD students have been sent off to German universities this year.

The delegation comprised Dr. Katharina Fleckenstein, Head of Section Scholarship Programmes Middle East, North Africa – ST33, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Bonn Germany; Dr. Simone Burkhart, Head of Division, Financial Support, DAAD; Inge Iqbal, Director, DAAD German Academic Exchange Service Information Centre Islamabad; Ms. Rosenberger, and Cultural attaché at the German Embassy, Islamabad.

Germany’s institutions of higher education are globally credited according to the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), 6 of the top 100 and 18 of the top 200 universities in the world are German.

German universities are good at robotics, mechatronics, Information Technology, Biology and various other areas. The collaboration needs to be expanded on the pattern of US-Pakistan Science and Technology Cooperation Programme and Pak-France PERIDOT Research Programme under which researchers identify areas of research and the concerned side funds them.

The combined academic initiatives are based on a two-way gain and help reinforce country-to-country associations. Studying in Germany will place you among some of the most established universities in the world, as well as some of the newest and the most propel innovative.
