ISLAMABAD: The launching ceremony of and#39;Sustainable Energy Initiative (SEI) for Industriesand#39;
project funded by Global Environment Facility (GEF) took place on Wednesday.
The prominent dignitaries participating in the event were the ambassador of EU delegation in
Pakistan, UN resident coordinator in Pakistan, senior officials from ministries of Industries and
Production and Climate Change, and representative of various organisations like Alternative
Energy Development Board (AEDB), National Productivity Organisation, (NPO) and Small and
Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA).
Speaking on the occasion, UN Resident Coordinator in Pakistan Neil Buhne said that the
sustainable development goals (SDGs) are very important for Pakistan, as they targeted industry,
innovation and infrastructure, which in fact fall under the domain of United Nation Industrial
Development Organisation (UNIDO). The projects would also focus on other SDGs such as and#39;no
poverty and hungerand#39;, he added.
