STAFF REPORT IBD: UNESCO will help the Pakistan Museum of Natural History (PMNH) in developing its online virtual tour so that the entire world people, especially the researchers and students could benefit from its facilities.
UNESCO Country Director Dr. Kozue Kay Nagata said this while speaking as chief guest at the launching ceremony of Audio Commentary Equipment, a facility for the visitors, donated by the UNESCO to PMNH, a subsidiary organization of Pakistan Science Foundation.
Dr. Nagata said UNESCO will also help PMNH in documentary on Shark Whale specimens stuffing and exhibition process as well as digitization of the Museum collection.
She said UNESCOs support to the Museum is based on its concept to promote science and education according to its mandate. She said though PMNH is small but unique in terms of its collection, especially of fossils that reveal natural history of millions years past.
Speaking on the occasion, PSF Chairman Dr. Manzoor Soomro stressed the need for developing collaboration with other organizations in order to achieve common goals.
He said the common goal of UNESCO and PSF is promotion of science. He said the concepts of UNESCO programmes are key to our science education system.
He said we have to look for support from other organizations through collaboration as in todays world no one can succeed while working in isolation.
