Turkey has offered multi-disciplinary scholarships plan for the students and researchers of COMSATS member states in order to expand the Commission’s research and quality education scope.
Four-member Turkish delegation during their visit to the COMSATS secretariat has offered the commitment, according to the press note issued here by the COMSATS secretariat.
Turkish delegation included President of The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBTAK), Turkey, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Arif Ergin, President of TUBITAK Marmara Research Centre (MAM), Turkey, Dr. Orkun Hasekioglu, and two other officials.
The delegates also had a meeting in Islamabad with senior officials of COMSTECH agenda of the first OIC Summit on Science & Technology held on September 10, 2017, in Astana, Kazakhstan.
COMSATS Executive Director Dr. S. M. Junaid Zaidi, avenues of collaboration had explored between the two sides for future programmes and activities during their meeting. Other senior officials of COMSATS secretariat have also attended the meeting.
Dr. Zaidi well-regarded the continued support extended by TÜBTAK MAM since the genesis of COMSATS and aspired for the same in future. He was appreciative of research activities in particular carried out at MAM, Center of Excellence of COMSATS, and desire to increase the participation of the Centre in future.
The delegation members took a keen interest in COMSATS’ telehealth programme by Dr. Zaidi and were also inquisitive about COMSATS International Thematic Research Groups (ITRGs).
Dr. Zaidi asked support for dispatching Turkish students at COMSATS for an apprenticeship as well as experts to work on secondment at COMSATS.
Dr. Hasekioglu made a generous scholarship proposition for the students and researchers of COMSATS member states.
The Turkish delegates assured Dr. Zaidi of their support for the establishment of a research and development center/university in one of the COMSATS member states.
Meeting concluded with a pledge to extend cooperation and intensify joint efforts to explore more avenues of latest research methodologies.
