From new modes, maps, operators, and bug fixes – here’s everything you need to know about Modern Warfare’s fourth competitive Call of Duty Season 4.
After a week-long delay, Call of Duty Modern Warfare’s Season 4 is finally here. The update brings quite a bit to the game’s multiplayer mode and Warzone as well. From new modes, maps, operators, and bug fixes – here’s everything you need to know about Modern Warfare’s fourth competitive season.
As with every season before it, Season 4 comes with a brand new battle pass. The battle pass offers twelve new operator skins, including two versions of the Modern Warfare legend himself, Captain Price. A standard skin of the character, called “The Captain”, will be unlocked at tier 1, as well as a night-vision Price skin, called “Nightfall”, at tier 100. Check out the rest of this season’s operators here.
Some big changes have been made to the core Warzone experience as well. Three “in-match events” have been added to mix things up a bit. “Jailbreak” will automatically respawn all dead players back into the game; “Fire Sale” will temporarily offer massive discounts across each of the game’s buy stations; “Supply Choppers” will bring in heavily armored helicopters that drop high quality loot when taken down.
A new contract has been introduced into the battle royale mode too. “Contraband” contracts will task you with taking a briefcase to a specific helicopter extraction point, at which point you’ll be rewarded with a permanent blueprint – accessible during and after the game. Players can also kill those carrying these briefcases, and complete the contracts for themselves.
One of the most exciting new additions to the game is easily Warzone Rumble mode, which places you in a 50 v 50 game of team deathmatch that takes place across various points of the Warzone map. Unlike regular battle royale modes, Rumble will allow you to respawn. This mode is a great opportunity to gain experience and increase your rank for those who own the free-to-pay version of Warzone.
The new season brings with it three new multiplayer maps as well. “Scrapyard”, a fan favorite from Modern Warfare 2, is officially in the game, along with a brand new map named “Trench”. On top of this, “Promenade”, which contains a chunk of Warzone‘s Verdansk map, has been added to Ground War.
Season 4 also introduces weapon mastery challenges, which become unlocked once you obtain a golden skin for any given weapon. The challenges will reward you with four new emblems and four player cards. If you’re really dedicated, you can even complete these challenges for all 51 of the game’s weapons, awarding you an exclusive emblem and player card.
On top of all of these new features, Season 4 fixes a handful of troublesome bugs. If you’ve been playing Warzone since its inception, you know that the game has had a decent amount of them. Check out the full patch notes here.
Modern Warfare continues its streak as the most successful Call of Duty game in recent memory, and given the success of Warzone, it seems as if it’s here to stay. Season 4 brings a slew of welcome changes, and it’ll be interesting to see where the game goes from here.
