The foundation for Punjab’s innovation economy is laid by the Punjab Information Technology Board, an independent organisation established by the Punjab government.
Data from 253 cooperative housing societies have been digitalized since June 2020 under the “Complete Integration of System” developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) for the Cooperative Department.
The flexible system gives society owners the ability to register new members, acquire land, acquire a certain number of plots, transfer plots, and enroll phases in addition to setting up an admin account.
Private housing societies in Lahore, Sargodha, Multan, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, and Sahiwal have fully implemented the system, which has improved departmental operations and brought transparency.
Since its implementation earlier this year, the Complete Integration of System (CIS)/ERP for Cooperatives Department developed by PITB has been successfully digitising decades-old data.
In accordance with the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), the system aims to automate the processes of the Punjab Cooperatives Department to ensure efficient workflow, increased transparency, and uniformity.
The foundation for Punjab’s innovation economy is laid by the Punjab Information Technology Board, an independent organisation established by the Punjab government.
The Board’s objectives include, among many other services, improving citizens’ digital literacy as well as modernising governance practises through methods that encourage transparency. The PITB is committed to offering the government, as well as national and international companies, effective and efficient IT services and infrastructure.
The government of the Punjab felt the need to establish a department that would be solely responsible for its prosperity through information technology because IT is the industry with the fastest rate of growth in the world.
In addition, it was decided that the department would keep an eye on international opportunities, attend to the province’s expanding IT needs, create policy alternatives, and plan and swiftly carry out initiatives to develop a globally competitive IT sector.
As a result, the Department of Industries established the Punjab Information Technology Board in 1999 as an independent organisation. The Governor approved an ordinance in this regard on March 27, 1999.
