RTTG is a fast-track funding mechanism that deals with themes, topics, and issues of extreme urgency for flood response, climate change, and environmental research.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has invited faculty members to submit research proposals for the Rapid Technology Transfer Grant (RTTG) programme.
According to official sources, HEC had invited faculty members from public and private sector universities and degree-awarding institutions (DAIs) to submit research proposals focused on the transfer of university-developed technologies and products to the industrial and commercial sectors.
The RTTG is a key component of the World Bank-funded Higher Education Development in Pakistan (HEDP) project, which is being implemented by the HEC.
It is a fast-track funding mechanism that deals with themes, topics, and issues of extreme urgency for flood response, climate change, and environmental research.
The RTTG will be used to fund proposals for applied research, product innovation, and commercialization of developed technological research and solutions. The RTTG will award funds to selected institutions based on a competitive, peer-reviewed proposal evaluation.
The funding for RTTG awards can range from PKR 10 to PKR 20 million, with a maximum project duration of six months.
According to the sources, lead principal investigators (Pls) must be regular faculty members of higher education institutions (public and private) or hold a contract equivalent to the length of the project duration.
Flood Response, Climate Change, and Environment are the priority sectors for RTTG support, including but not limited to climate mitigation, adaptation, policy dialogue interventions, disaster management (focusing on climate modelling and disaster surveillance, environmental monitoring, and geological monitoring), and metro-scale pollution reduction technologies.
It is designed to support and encourage the transfer of university-developed technologies and products to the industrial and commercial sectors. This programme typically invites faculty members from public and private sector universities and degree-awarding institutions (DAIs) to submit research proposals focused on the commercialization of their technology or product.
The programme is meant to provide funding for these projects and to facilitate the process of transferring technology from the university to the private sector.
