COMSATS expanding its horizons to the North for cooperation in the fields of mutual interest, the Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS) has signed a MoU with the South Centre, Geneva, Switzerland.
Executive Director Comsats Dr. S.M. Junaid Zaidi and his counterpart from the South Centre, Geneva, Dr. Carlos Correa, signed the agreement during a ceremony, says a press release issued here by the Secretariat here on Thursday.
This MoU paves the way for the two organizations to collaborate for the advancement of South-South and Triangular Cooperation through various regional and cross-regional cooperation initiatives as well as exchange of information and technical resources among their common member states.
Both the parties have agreed in principle to launch and execute joint cooperative schemes and programmes in areas such as education and training, STI, policy development, climate change, sustainable and social development.
“Comsats will continue to explore all possible means around the globe to help achieve the organization’s objectives”, said Dr. Zaidi about the signing of this MoU. “Our outreach to the North is a strategic step in this direction”.
He hoped that this collaboration would be mutually beneficial for both organizations
