Heavy Industries Taxila Education City (HITEC) is the hallmark of education in Taxila. Spread over an area of more than 50 acres, HITEC University is located at the foot of Margalla Hills only 2 km from Taxila city and 30 km North West of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. It is an integrated and purpose specific complex, housing educational institutes, catering for pre-school to university level education.
HITEC University started in 2007 with an intake of 250 students in affiliation with UET Taxila. Within a short span of two years, it was granted its own charter in November, 2009 by the Government of the Punjab. The University is sponsored by Heavy Industries Taxila Education Welfare Trust (HITEWT). Ranked in category “W” by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, HITEC University is Pakistan’s premier academic and research institution.
The University has educational linkages with leading Universities like Strathclyde University of UK, Istanbul Technical University of Turkey and Universiti Teknologi of Malaysia. This collaboration is to give an opportunity to our student and faculty for higher education and research collaboration.
A special point to note is that HITEC University is now one of the seven leading Universities of the country that has transformed their degrees on “Outcome based Education” system in alignment with academic programs accredited under “Washington Accord”. Consequently, our degrees would now be recognized in the U.S.A, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Open House of HITEC
In 2017, open house is conducted on 23rd of May; there are 35 projects presented in Mechanical department, in these projects certain projects are partially funded projects some notable projects are “Development and Performance of thermo elastic refrigeration system using Shape memory alloy”, “Design of UCAV”, “Automation of Manual transmission car” , “Design and Fabrication of pulse jet engine (Valve less)”.
In 2017, open house is conducted on 23rd of May; there are (41) projects displayed in Electrical Engineering Department, in these projects certain projects are partially funded projects some notable projects are “Writing Aid for Dysgraphia Affected People” , funded by National ICT R&D. “Remote Health monitoring of solar PV-Systems using GSM” , funded by National ICT R&D.
In 2017, open house is conducted on 23rd of May; there are (19) projects displayed in Computer Science and Engineering Department, in these projects some notable projects are “mCloud Based B2B Solution For two or more vendors with provision of inter cloud heterogeneity”, “Vision Andro – A Cost Effective Aid for Viusally Impaired Persons”, “Intrusion Detection System test bed for cloud based applications”, “Personal E-attendant appointment generator in nearby hospital and first aid assistant and Military Based Robotic Tank are projects of utility for the public and industry sector
There are more than thirty industries participating in the success of open house. Honorable guests Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar (SI), Vice Chancellor UET, Taxila expressed his pleasure over the quality of the developed projects.
