Global Conference on Wireless and Optical Technologies: Collaboration Between Five Pakistani Universities in Spain

The 7th Global Conference on Wireless and Optical Technologies (GCWOT24) brought together leading researchers from around the world to discuss innovations in communication technologies, co-hosted by five Pakistani universities.

The 7th edition of the prestigious Global Conference on Wireless and Optical Technologies (GCWOT24) was recently held at the Telecommunication Engineering School of the University of Malaga (UMA), Spain. The event, led by General Chairs Prof. Pablo Otero and Prof. BS Chowdhry, served as a vital international platform where researchers discussed cutting-edge advancements in technology, applications, and services within the multidisciplinary framework of communication technologies.

Global Conference on Wireless and Optical Technologies 2024 was co-organized by the University of Malaga, Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET) in Jamshoro, Pakistan, and Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET) in Karachi, Pakistan. This collaboration aimed to foster an environment conducive to research, innovation, and knowledge sharing on a global scale.

The conference received strong technical cooperation from the European Union’s KA107 International Credit Mobility (ICM) projects and the EU KA2 Capacity Building ACTIVE Project, amplifying its global reach and impact.

This year, GCWOT24 expanded its intellectual diversity by welcoming three additional sponsoring universities from Pakistan: the Institute of Business Management (IoBM) in Karachi, Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIK) in Topi, and Quaid-E-Awam University of Engineering, Science & Technology (QUEST) in Nawabshah. These institutions significantly contributed to the range of expertise and knowledge displayed throughout the event.

Prof. Dr. Mohammad Aamir and Prof. Enrique Nava, Chairs of the technical program committee, emphasized that GCWOT24 was designed to foster collaboration and promote knowledge transfer. The conference offered groundbreaking insights into wireless, optical, and underwater communication technologies, inspiring innovative solutions to the challenges posed by the digital age.

The highlight of the event was the participation of His Excellency Zahoor Ahmed, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Spain, as the Chief Guest. In his keynote address titled “Innovating Through Collaboration: GCWOT’24 and the ACTIVE Project,” Ambassador Zahoor Ahmed praised the conference as a vital platform that united leading global researchers and experts to exchange ideas and showcase breakthroughs in Wireless, Optical, and Underwater Communication Technologies.

Ambassador Zahoor Ahmed further commended the contributions of Pakistani higher education institutions (HEIs) in promoting global linkages, advancing emerging technologies, and developing human resources. He stressed the importance of follow-up actions from the conference and discussed plans to engage with the rector mayor, the Andalusian assembly, and the technology park to expand these collaborative efforts.

Global Conference on Wireless and Optical Technologies continues to be a driving force in promoting innovation, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among researchers from around the world.
