This significant development marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing progress of the Gwadar Free Zone, heralding a new era of economic growth and regional development.
In an exclusive conversation with Gwadar Pro, Andy Liao, the CEO of Hangeng Agriculture Group, expressed his elation at the substantial progress witnessed in the Gwadar Free Zone. He emphasized that the establishment of enterprises in the Gwadar Port North Free Zone signifies a significant stride forward, paving the way for enhanced development opportunities. Liao also highlighted the forthcoming phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which is expected to further amplify Gwadar’s economic potential.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude, Liao commended the China Overseas Port Holding Company (COPHC), Gwadar Port Authority (GPA), Customs, and the Army for their unwavering support during challenging times. He reaffirmed the commitment to realizing the vision of Gwadar’s economic advancement and improving the lives of its residents.
Highlighting the operational aspects, Liao revealed that the newly established manufacturing facility in Gwadar would export 100 containers of pharmaceutical material to China each month. Moreover, the company is providing employment opportunities to over 100 workers in the region, thus contributing to local job creation and economic empowerment.
During the inauguration ceremony, Federal Minister lauded the successful establishment of the factory in Gwadar. He underscored the dedication of the people of Baluchistan and emphasized the collective efforts needed to foster prosperity in the province, particularly in Gwadar.
The minister emphasized, “The Gwadar Free Zone stands as a vital component of Pakistan’s economic growth, facilitating trade, investment, and regional connectivity. Its strategic location and ambitious plans position it as a key player in the future of international trade and development.”
Furthermore, Minister acknowledged the remarkable progress achieved by the Chinese government in lifting 770 million people out of poverty, citing it as a testament to their capacity to transform lives through economic development and progress.
Chairman of the China Overseas Port Holding Company (COPHC), Yu Bo, outlined the vision and future plans for the Gwadar Free Zone, emphasizing the significance of agricultural cooperation between Pakistan and China. He reiterated that agricultural cooperation has always been a top priority for both governments, with a focus on promoting local employment and strengthening the agriculture industry in Gwadar.
During his visit to Gwadar, the Federal Minister reviewed several significant projects aimed at further enhancing the region’s infrastructure and socio-economic landscape. These included the progress on the Gwadar International Airport, the 1.2 MGD desalination plant, the Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute, the Pak-China Friendship Hospital in Gwadar, and the Gwadar Port Dredging Project.
