Italy's Exergy Drills into Turkish Market with 8 MW Geothermal Plant

Italy-based Exergy International, a leading player in geothermal energy sector, has clinched a significant deal to supply an 8 MW geothermal binary plant to Emirler Enerji in Turkey.

Italy-based Exergy International, a leading player in the geothermal energy sector, has clinched a significant deal to supply an 8 MW geothermal binary plant to Emirler Enerji in Turkey. The agreement, marking the second unit of the Emirler 1 geothermal power plant in Sarayköy, Denizli, reflects the growing momentum of renewable energy initiatives in the region’s quest for sustainable power.

Expressing their enthusiasm about the partnership, General Manager Luca Pozzoni highlighted the commitment to forging long-term synergies with Emirler Enerji to bolster renewable energy capacity. Pozzoni emphasized the significance of Turkey as a reference market for Exergy International, noting the presence of a manufacturing and service base in the country.

Exergy International, headquartered in Milan, boasts the second-largest geothermal binary cycle fleet globally and operates as part of the Chinese TICA Group, renowned for its expertise in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) sector.

Last year, Exergy achieved a milestone by reaching a capacity of 500 MW. The company was entrusted by Hez Enerji, another Turkey-based firm, to design, engineer, and supply a robust 24 MW geothermal system. The comprehensive agreement included two radial outflow turbines (ROTs), an air-cooled condensing system, and a generator—all produced locally. The facility is on track to be commissioned by the end of 2024.

Exergy International is renowned for its specialization in organic Rankine cycle (ORC) power plants, a technology that harnesses the potential of geothermal energy for sustainable electricity generation. Geothermal power, an eco-friendly alternative, taps into the Earth’s natural heat to produce electricity with minimal environmental impact.

The Emirler 1 geothermal power project in Sarayköy, Denizli, holds strategic importance in Turkey’s pursuit of clean energy solutions. Geothermal energy, a reliable and consistent source of power, aligns with global efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and mitigate the impact of climate change.

As Exergy International continues to make significant strides in the geothermal energy sector, the latest contract with Emirler Enerji reaffirms the company’s commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions. The collaboration underscores the importance of international partnerships in fostering sustainable development and addressing the evolving energy needs of nations.

With a focus on innovation and environmentally conscious practices, Exergy International remains at the forefront of the global transition towards a cleaner, greener energy landscape. The successful implementation of the Emirler 1 geothermal power project is poised to contribute significantly to Turkey’s renewable energy portfolio and exemplify the potential of geothermal technology in powering a sustainable future.
