Pasteur Institute of Iran and Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation have entered into a MoU.
The Pasteur Institute of Iran and the Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMSTECH) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Chaudhary, the Coordinator General of COMSTECH, and Dr. Rahim Sorouri, the Director of Pasteur Institute of Iran, at Pasteur Institute in Tehran, Iran.
The agreement encompasses the development and execution of joint educational programs, collaborative research endeavors, technology and innovation initiatives, as well as the facilitation of national and international events including conferences, workshops, exhibitions, and courses.
The primary objective of the MoU is to streamline the exchange of students, experts, and academic personnel for professional growth and to bolster scientific activities. Additionally, the Institute of Iran will assume the role of a member in COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence as outlined in the agreement.
Prof. Iqbal Chaudhary commended the Pasteur Institute of Iran for its potential to expand COMSTECH’s collaborative efforts. He lauded the institute’s esteemed reputation, both within Iran and globally, especially in the realm of infectious diseases and vaccines. Prof. Chaudhary advocated for a close partnership between COMSTECH and the Pasteur Institute.
Dr. Rahim Sorouri, the director of Pasteur Institute of Iran, provided an overview of the institute’s operations and capabilities, expressing eagerness to establish a comprehensive scientific alliance with COMSTECH.
During the meeting, various heads from different divisions of Institute of Iran emphasized the institute’s strengths and proposed collaborative initiatives. It was unanimously decided that regular coordination meetings would be convened to solidify forthcoming agreements.
The Pasteur Institute of Iran, established in 1920 through an accord between the Iranian government and the Pasteur Institute of Paris, stands as a distinguished research and public health center in Iran and the Middle East.
COMSTECH, founded during the third summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in 1981, is tasked with fortifying collaboration among member nations in the domains of science and technology.
