The announcement was made through a blog post on the studio’s website, revealing that Shadow Gambit would be their final official release. Co-founders Dominik Abé and Johannes Roth stated, “Dedicating the past decade and a half of our lives working on increasingly ambitious games took a heavy personal toll on us and our families.” Following the completion of Shadow Gambit, the studio chose to prioritize their health and work-life balance, opting not to embark on another lengthy production cycle.
Despite the closure, Abé and Roth expressed gratitude for the continuous support of fans. They committed to providing ongoing support for Shadow Gambit, including an upcoming patch and a significant content update later in 2023. The success of Shadow Gambit is expected to aid in the transition, with proceeds from the game being distributed as bonuses to employees.
