Inger Ashing, the CEO of Save the Children International (SCI), Muhammad Khuram Gondal, the country director for Save the Children in Pakistan, and a delegation of senior SCI officials met with representatives from the Federal Ministry for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives in crucial meetings as part of SCI’s ongoing efforts to promote collaboration and advance sustainable solutions for community development, climate change, and disaster management. The discussions focussed on youth involvement, climate change resilience, and strategic efforts for all-around development.
SCI delegation met with Chief SDG MoPD&SI, Muhammad Ali Kamal, Senior Joint Secretary MoPD&SI, Qazi Zaheer Ahmed, and Joint Chief Economist Zafar ul Hassan during their visit to the Ministry for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives.
Ms. Inger Ashing emphasized the significance of strategic planning in advancing Pakistan’s development while highlighting SCI’s dedication to community activities and equipping young people with the tools they need to create good change.
We look forward to working with Save the Children International on planning and advancing catastrophe risk reduction & management programs, said Zafar ul Hassan, secretary for planning, development, and special projects. Additionally, he recommended SCI to launch efforts for children’s health, education, and protection. a consensus was reached to work together.
The Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Syed Mujtaba Hussain, said, “Climate resilience is a shared responsibility, a commitment etched in our actions, at a later meeting of the SCI delegation at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination focused on improving the nation’s resilience against adverse impacts of climate change and environmental degradation. In protecting the environment and responding to natural disasters like cyclones, heat waves, global warming, floods, etc., our relationship with Save the Children International multiplies our efforts.
CEO of Save the Children International reiterated the group’s commitment to enhancing climate resilience. The discussion focused on coordinating initiatives to protect Pakistan’s environment, bolstering the nation’s response to climate-related problems, and guaranteeing a sustainable future for future generations.
In addition, she stated, “I would like to highlight that Climate Change is the cross-cutting theme of Save The Children International and we are committed to safeguarding the well-being of communities especially children and protecting them from the effects of climate change.”
