Agreements will enhance ongoing collaboration between the three parties in South Africa on business case development, research, and development of cutting-edge energy technologies.
The South African National Research Foundation and the University of Johannesburg have signed memoranda of understanding with energy technology and services provider Schneider Electric. Through these partnerships, the local workforce and youth will be better prepared by being given the necessary energy and automation skills.
The agreements will enhance ongoing collaboration between the three parties in South Africa on business case development, research, and development of cutting-edge energy technologies.
According to Schneider Electric, the agreements may result in increased funding for organisations that promote energy-related research for educational purposes.
Devan Pillay, Cluster President of Anglophone Africa at Schneider Electric, said, “We look forward to working with two of the country’s pillars in research and education which will take us one step closer to our objective of one million people trained globally by 2025.”
The agreements were signed at the French Embassy in South Africa in the presence of Catherine Colonna, the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs to South Africa, during an event held in collaboration with the South African Department of Higher Education and Training. The agreements aim to improve collaboration in training the local workforce and youth and equip them with crucial energy and automation skills.
