Govt Employees To Receive Advanced-Level Cybersecurity Training

The Ministry of IT and Telecommunication has made the decision to provide government employees with advanced cybersecurity training.

According to sources in the MoITT, Ignite National Technology Fund and Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) will work together to carry out this cyber security training programme.

It has been decided to train government employees due to the rising cyber security threats and cyberattacks, according to the sources. Government employees will learn about preventative measures to fend off cyberattacks during this training. Administrators in government offices will receive advanced training in cyberattack prevention under this programme.

According to MoITT officials, the Ministry of IT and Telecom conducted one basic level of training in 2022 at the Prime Minister’s Office’s request.

The NITB held that basic training course for designated focal persons from ministries and departments. The National Telecommunication and Information Security Board (NTISB) held another training session in January 2023.

The officials claim that there have been more cyberattacks on government institutions this year than in previous years.

Hackers have modified their tactics as well and are now attacking businesses with a variety of tools. In such a circumstance, it is necessary to expand the capabilities of public institutions and train public servants.

Officials from the IT Ministry claim that the Cabinet Division regularly issues advisories about cyberthreats and cyberattacks. Additionally, employees and government organisations are urged to take security measures to prevent these attacks.

Under this project, government workers will receive advanced-level training so they can adapt to the demands of the moment.

The purpose of cybersecurity training is to provide people with the abilities and information they need to protect digital assets, stop unauthorised access, and quickly identify and address security incidents. It promotes a culture of security awareness within organisations and guarantees that staff members are knowledgeable about potential risks and how to appropriately respond to them.
