The prestigious 2023 BMCC Business Excellence Award’s second runner-up is The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd). Through its outstanding partnership in the UK-Malaysia education institutional category, RCSEd received this prestigious award in recognition of its accomplishment and significant contributions to the field of education.

This honour was given to RCSEd by the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (BMCC) in recognition of the organization’s outstanding commitment and noteworthy contributions to the development of the education industries in Malaysia and the UK.

In a crowded field of nominees, RCSEd’s collaboration with Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) stood out. The joint venture collaboration between RCSEd and UKM has successfully tapped into the strengths and know-how of both organisations, yielding a seamless partnership that has significantly advanced the medical and surgical education industries in Malaysia and the UK.

We are incredibly honoured to get this prestigious acknowledgement for our collaboration with UKM. The success of our collaboration demonstrates the value of collaboration in the medical and surgical education sector. We are proud to contribute to advancement in Malaysia and the UK, and look forward to continuing our partnership with UKM for years to come.

A strategic partnership between RCSEd and UKM called the Tuanku Muhriz Traveling Fellowship in Rural Surgery supports remote and humanitarian healthcare.

The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the Ministry of Higher Education, and Professor Datuk Dr. Hanafiah, Pro Vice Chancellor of UKM, are all given credit for the collaboration, which is an honour for UKM. The partnership wants to establish itself as the primary centre for surgical education and training in the area.

RCSEd and UKM are honoured with the 2023 BMCC Business Excellence Award for their productive partnership over the previous five years.

They have improved medical and surgical education, research, and professional development standards by utilising UK and Malaysian expertise. In the top three for the UK-Malaysia Education Institutional Partnership category, RCSEd was recognised at the BMCC’s 60th Anniversary Gala Dinner as the second runner-up.

Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry, Richard Graham, MP, UK Trade Envoy to Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and ASEAN, and former Director-General of Health Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah were present.

The UK-Malaysia Education Institutional Partnership category is proudly sponsored by the British Council in Malaysia.
