The Ibadat International University, Islamabad and the OIC Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further strengthen their partnership. The COMSTECH Distinguished Scholars Program will be beneficial to Ibadat International University.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of COMSTECH, and Prof. Dr. Syed Amir Gilani, Rector of the Ibadat International University.

The COMSTECH Distinguished Scholars Program aims to increase the scientific capacity of OIC Member Countries in STI by highlighting the best talent and presenting a delicate image of the Muslim world.

Two institutions will collaborate to develop and carry out joint educational and scientific programmes in science, technology, and innovation. They will also plan events such as seminars, workshops, conferences, symposia, exhibitions, and training sessions.

The International University will register at the OIC Technology and Innovation Portal and join the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence (CCoE) as an Associate member.

In addition to placing students and hiring academic and scientific staff, COMSTECH will arrange for the eminent scholars to visit Ibadat International University to deliver lectures, short courses, lead workshops, and conduct training sessions. Through sabbatical visits, COMSTECH will assist Ibadat University in developing its faculty.

It will also offer training and consultation for the creation of a science park. Young researchers and the students from OIC member Countries, particularly those from Africa, will visit Ibadat International University for 6–12 months to conduct the research as part of a programme that COMSTECH will develop in collaboration with the university.

One of the four permanent committees of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) tasked with fostering cooperation in science and technology initiatives among OIC member states is the Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH).

It was created in 1981 by the OIC’s Islamic Summit with the goals of enhancing domestic scientific and technological capabilities, advancing and collaborating in pertinent fields, and establishing an institutional framework for planning and development at the Ummah level.
