The production of wheat in the current year, its available stock, carryover stocks, and the procurement goals of federal and provincial departments were all disclosed to the meeting.
The country’s 27.5 million metric tons record bumper wheat crop was produced on Sunday, according to the prime minister, who credited timely government decisions, the provision of high-quality seed, continuous fertiliser supply, and the Kissan package.
A meeting to review the official level national wheat procurement drive was presided over by the prime minister. The prime minister expressed satisfaction that the nation’s produce output had surpassed that of the previous ten years.
The prime minister bemoaned the fact that Pakistan had become a wheat-importing nation as a result of the previous administration’s poor management, adding that farmers had to wait all day in queue to obtain fertiliser. The production of wheat in the current year, its available stock, carryover stocks, and the procurement goals of federal and provincial departments were all disclosed to the meeting.
The minister for the national food security, the special assistant, interim Punjab Minister for Industries and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
The prime minister commended the minister of food security and other pertinent officials for their actions and expressed his appreciation.
He claimed that despite the significant rainfall and flooding in the previous year, the government’s prompt decisions and excellent leadership were responsible for the bumper wheat crop.
The prime minister congratulated the country on reaching the goal and stated that the government was developing a plan to increase production the following year.
According to him, the provincial and federal governments should buy the wheat directly from farmers to benefit them. In order to ensure a consistent supply of wheat throughout the year, he added, they should also raise their wheat procurement targets.
Additionally, the prime minister ordered the tough measures against hoarders. In order to obtain the desired amount of wheat, he also directed the banks to provide the necessary resources.
