Prof. Nusrat Shah encouraged the pharmacy students to plant saplings which could be used in herbal medicine eg plants like Aloe vera and Chamomile.

The Green Youth Movement (GYM) Club of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU) organised a “Plantation day” at Arija Campus, according to a statement from the SMBBMU Larkana Press Spokesman.

Prof. Nusrat Shah, Vice Chancellor of SMBBMU, along with the GYM Team, the Principal, faculty and students of Benazir College of Nursing (BCON), faculty and students of Institute of Pharmacy, the plantation officer, and the gardeners, planted numerous saplings in the campus’s green areas.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan sponsored the event. The vice chancellor stated that we need many trees on campus, including Neem and Pipal trees, to provide shade in hot weather and to combat the extreme heat caused by climate change.

She encouraged the pharmacy students to plant saplings which could be used in herbal medicine eg plants like Aloe vera and Chamomile.

Chamomile can be used to flavour foods and beverages, as well as mouthwash, soaps, and cosmetics. It is used to “upholster” chamomile seats, which are half-meter-tall raised beds designed to be sat on. Chamomile lawns are also used in sunny, low-traffic areas.

She said plantation should continue all year round to develop the green areas at all campuses of the university. The faculty members and students of BCON and Institute of Pharmacy also planted saplings.
