Chinese Ornamental Plants Benefit Pakistanis: Report

More than half of the ornamental plants present in contemporary gardens around the world, according to a study by the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS), originated in China. A Gwadar Pro article claims that when it comes to using ornamental plants to improve the aesthetics of their homes and gardens, Pakistanis have benefited from Chinese research and experience.

Chinese ornamental plants can help Pakistan fight climate change, one of the major issues the country is facing, in addition to beautifying the country.

In Pakistan, where people use them to spruce up their yards, homes, and workplaces, Chinese ornamental plants are in high demand. Chinese ornamental plants are sold in Pakistan in both plant nurseries and online marketplaces.

According to Ayaz Khan, manager of Leaf Nurseries in H-9 Islamabad, “China imports a variety of ornamental plants.” Mr. Khan asserts that there is a rising trend in the demand for imported plants, including Chinese plants.

He added that Chinese wisteria plants are among the most popular ornamental plants in the nursery due to their “beauty and long life” as are Chinese fringe flower and strap flower (Loropetalum Chinense). In his nursery, there are at least five different varieties of Chinese citrus (lemon). Ayaz Khan continued, “Chinese lemons are grown at home for both beautification and to produce citrus fruit from them.

He thought that because they could be kept in containers, Chinese lemons might make great indoor plants. The most alluring Chinese lemon, he said, was finger lime. Red Robin (Photinia x fraseri), a plant from Rawalpindi, was purchased by Abdullah for his garden.

He told Gwadar Pro, “China is called ‘the Mother of World Gardens’; Pakistan should benefit from the experiences of Chinese horticulturalists,” and added, “This is my favourite flowering shrub, which can withstand the weather of the Potohar region.”
