Analysts claimed that after China’s COVID-19 response was optimized, the country’s defense industry returned to the global market in full force. Nine arms trade companies are taking part in the 16th International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) in Abu Dhabi under the banner of “China Defense,” led by China’s State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense (SASTIND).
The companies are showcasing China’s cutting-edge capabilities in national defense technology and offering solutions to protect international peace and stability, the administration claimed in a press release sent to the Global Times.
As one of the largest national delegations at the IDEX, the Chinese group has broken records in terms of the scale, the scope and the number of exhibits. Nearly 500 different pieces of equipment are on display, including items for land, sea, air, space, and electronics security as well as more recent developments like cyberspace, intelligence, drones, and anti-drone technology.
Additionally, it’s the first time Chinese arms companies have taken part in a significant international defense expo since the country relaxed its restrictions on international travel this year as the pandemic subsided, according to observers.
Wei Dongxu, a Beijing-based military expert, told media on Monday that China’s participation in the expo demonstrated that the pandemic had no negative effects on its arms industry and that it could easily produce and deliver the weapons and equipment needed by the global market.
The LY-80B air defence system and the Mountain Cat 2000 all-terrain mobile combined arms battalion were two of the numerous products that made their first appearances abroad, according to the SASTIND. The FD-2000 air defence system, the FC-31 stealth fighter jet, the VT-4 main battle tank, the AR3 multiple launch rocket system, electronic warfare and command and control systems, as well as various types of air, ship, and land drones are on display.
“The Middle East’s security situation is extremely complicated, and many nations must significantly improve their combat capacity. Since many of the region’s nations lack fully functional defence industries, they must import cutting-edge machinery like fighter jets, tactical missiles, warships, tanks, and armoured vehicles “said Wei.
According to the expert, Chinese products are very appealing because Chinese arms companies can offer complete systems of weapons and equipment with excellent performances and cost effectiveness. Chinese defence companies will participate in more international defence expos according to analysts.
Since 1993, the IDEX has taken place every other year, growing to be one of the biggest and most important international defence expos in the world. According to the expo’s website, more than 1,350 companies from roughly 65 countries and regions attended this year.
