GCWUF Confers Research Productivity Awards To Faculty Members

The Government College Women University (GCWUF)Faisalabad presented Research Productivity Awards to 72 faculty members for 2022.

In this regard, the Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization and the Directorate of Academics hosted an award and certificate distribution ceremony in the university’s Jinnah Auditorium, with GCWUF Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Robina Farooq in the chair.

Dr. Robina Farooq, speaking on the occasion, emphasised Government College Women University’s research accomplishments in terms of commercialization of GCWU R&D products, patents filed, laboratory development, and the start of new degree programmes. She emphasised the significance of applied research and shared some cutting-edge research trends.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Tabassum Afzal, Rector COMSATS Islamabad, shared his experiences, journey of COMSATS development, and encouraged GCWUF faculty members to work with more zeal and zest.

Prof. Dr. Saleem Farooq Shaukat, Director of COMSATS Vehari Campus, spoke about the critical role of applied research and research collaboration at the national and international levels in capacity building. He also lauded the efforts of the young faculty members who are working to improve GCWUF.

Following that, the GCWUF Vice Chancellor, flanked by guest speakers, presented research productivity awards to 72 faculty members from the faculties of Science and Technology, Arts and Social Sciences, Management and Business Administration, and Languages and Humanities  for their 229 research publications.

Their publications were consistent with the following SDGs: 2-zero hunger, 3-good health and wellbeing, 4-quality education, 6-clean water and sanitation, 7-affordable and clean energy, 13-climate action, and 14-life below water.

Meanwhile, Drs. Aasma Khalid (Mathematics), Sadaf Naqvi (Urdu), and Abida Kausar (Chemistry) received awards for Outstanding Researcher (Publications, W-category), Outstanding Researcher (Publications, X- and Y-category), and Outstanding Researcher (Research Grant), while certificates were distributed to resource persons and participants of the faculty development programme 2022.

Mr. Asif A. Malik, Registrar of GCWUF, and others were also present.
