In collaboration with PAS, the Faculty of Humanities and the Kauser Abdullah Malik School of Life Science at FCCU organized a two-day workshop on Science Journalism.
In a two-day workshop, sessions were held on responsible and effective science communication, the use of science festivals for youth empowerment, and the future prospects of science journalism.
In collaboration with the Pakistan Academy of Science (PAS), the Faculty of Humanities and the Kauser Abdullah Malik School of Life Science at FCCU organized a two-day workshop on Science Journalism.
The workshop’s final session was held at FCCU. The chief guests were Dr. Altaf Ullah Khan, Dean of Humanities, and Dr. Kauser A Malik, Director of ORIC and Dean of Postgraduate Studies on Thursday. The certificates were distributed to the participants.
Dr. Mahaletchumy Arujanan and Mr. Ehsan Masood, lead trainers, spoke on the occasion and congratulated the organizers on bridging the gap between science and journalism through the workshop.
Dr. Firasat Jabeen, Chairperson of the Department of Mass Communication, and faculty members from various media studies departments, as well as journalists, scientists, and research scholars from the KAM School of Life Sciences FCCU, were in attendance.
The workshop focused on various aspects of effective science communication, such as discussing how to communicate science responsibly and effectively, investigating how science festivals can be used to empower youth, and examining future trends and opportunities in the field of science journalism.
Dr. Syed Javaid Khurshid, Editor of Global Affairs Magazine, Dr. Sabieh Anwar, Dean of the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering at LUMS, and Aleem Ahmad, Editor of Global Science Magazine, led these sessions. Dr. Maha led the workshop’s final training on pitching scientific research, storytelling, media engagements, and risk communication.
In 1870, the Department of Biological Sciences became the Kauser Abdulla Malik School of Life Sciences. A long line of distinguished professors has made significant contributions to the department and the field of biological sciences in general, including Dr. Saithi, Dr. Purio, Dr. HK Bhatti, and Dr. KK Bell.
The department has had a busy and productive few years. Undergraduate degrees in biology and biotechnology have been established. Cross-disciplinary degrees in bioinformatics and environmental sciences have also been launched.
