Dr. Taner Yildiz, a Dutch-born expert on implants who was born in Turkey, claimed that five million people died in 2019 as a result of antibiotic drugs misuse.
According to Prof. Zeba Haque, principal of Dow International Medical College, a national committee must be established to develop guidelines similar to those of the American Heart Association (AHA). In her remarks to the seminar, Dr. Zeba Haq stressed the importance of using antibiotic drugs with caution and the need for legislation to stop their frequent and unnecessary abuse.
The majority of the world’s mortality rate has been reduced by following the AHA recommendations. Prof. Zeba continued, mentioning that Dow University of Health Sciences had prepared a proposal for formulating Pakistani regulations.
This was said by the speaker at a seminar on endocarditis prevention and treatment held at the Dow International Medical College (DIMC) Ojha Campus and sponsored by the Dow Institute of Cardiology in partnership with the Professional Development Center.
Dr. Taner Yildiz, a Dutch-born expert on implants who was born in Turkey, claimed that five million people died in 2019 as a result of antibiotic drugs misuse. Despite the fact that this is a global issue, the Netherlands has strict, frequently updated guidelines for the use of antibiotics.
He informed the audience, to their surprise, that minor procedures and surgeries don’t use antibiotics.
Dr. Mohammad Hashim Nadeem, an assistant professor of cardiology, claimed that drug efficacy is declining as a result of excessive and unnecessary use. He added that due to the resistance and risks of antibiotic drugs, their use should be minimised.
Dr. Shamim Bahram, an infectious diseases consultant at Indus Hospital, stated in his address that it is important to diagnose patients more accurately in order to find the germs, and then the appropriate medication should be prescribed.
Dr. Anwar Ali explained that there is a regular system of drug resistance in germs while speaking to the seminar. Using these medications unnecessarily strengthens this resistance. According to him, Pakistani regulations ought to be created in the American Heart Association’s style.
A complete draught of the guidelines is ready, according to Dr. Tariq Farman, and can be submitted after approval. He claimed that, in the past, there was a misconception that dental instruments used in treatment could spread endocarditis. Having exercised caution, people have now realised one of the causes of this illness.
