The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and Brook Pakistan in collaboration with Livestock Department signed memorandum of understandings at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore City Campus for the implementation of health and welfare services of animals in district of Punjab.
Emeritus Professor/ Honorary Secretary (SPCA) Prof Dr Masood Rabbani and Incharge (SPCA) Dr Fawad Badar while Programme Manager Brook Pakistan Dr Javed Iqbal Gondal Advocacy Manager Brook Pakistan Syed Naeem Abbas signed the MoU in a ceremony held at UVAS City Campus. Chairman Department of Parasitology Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf and officials from SPCA and Brooks Pakistan were present on the occasion. Under the MoU, Brooks Pakistan will provide support to SPCA in collaboration with Livestock Department for improving animal welfare in Punjab, training need assessment and training of SPCA staff and also facilitate to SPCA on multilayer referral system for treatment and vaccination at veterinary hospital/dispensaries for working of equines. SPCA will create awareness regarding welfare services of animals including transportation, load management, traffic rules against beating and other abuses. SPCA staff will provide emergency treatment to the needy animals and welfare services of animals. They will jointly arrange mess awareness, world animal day, animal fairs, animal competitions etc.
