Nintendo Switch Pro: Company at ‘Appropriate Time’ for New Hardware Reveals

Nintendo Switch Pro Reportedly Coming

While gamers were told that a Nintendo Switch Pro would be coming soon, nothing has emerged yet.

E3 2021 is now over and we have only taken note of the software coming in the coming months.

Nintendo has never officially revealed plans for the Switch Pro, and much of what we know about the console remains tied to reports and rumours.

For now, we don’t know when such a reveal will take place and whether there will be a Nintendo Switch Pro for sale in 2021.

But while Nintendo isn’t ready to talk about its future plans just yet, they’ve made a few comments about the Switch Pro console.

At the 81st Annual General Meeting on June 29, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa gave the latest update, telling investors:

“We hold Nintendo Direct presentations to give our customers the right information about each product at the right time. Our company is committed to continuing to provide the unique Nintendo gaming feel and will continue to deliver that through our hardware and software.

“We believe this will help the business grow. To do that, our company is always developing hardware, software and accessories, but I will have to refrain from commenting on specific products in development.”

The translation of the meeting comes from @Cheesemeister3k on Twitter and offers these other updates on the prospect of mini consoles:

“Our company finds gender and other forms of diversity extremely important. Because our business is entertainment, our game development is focused on bringing a smile to everyone we reach.

“While we can’t necessarily meet everyone’s needs with the different elements we have to decide on for each game specification, I appreciate your input on this matter.”

According to the latest rumors, the much-discussed mid-generation upgrade for the Switch could actually get a 2022 release date.

This is according to the Twitter account of the YouTube channel SwitchUp – which has 186,000 subscribers.

According to the YouTuber, a “trustworthy” source involved in the production of Switch accessories has claimed that the Switch Pro will not be released this year.

SwitchUp recently posted: “No Switch Pro in 2021. Reliable manufacturing source for peripherals from China; working on products to adapt for it. They say they’ve heard the global market release in 2022. Let’s hope it’s wrong”.

The claims were highlighted and discussed in a post on the Reddit page, with some users thinking a 2022 release date is likely and others still hopeful of a launch this year.

The Switch Pro is rumored to be capable of 4K gaming in docked mode, has a better screen for sharper visuals when playing in handheld mode, and is equipped with a more powerful graphics chip.

But until we hear more from Nintendo, much of this will remain speculation in 2021, and possibly beyond.
