HERE Technologies have develop a technology solution – Intents Go app – that will help address the rising road accidents on Indian roads.
According to National Crime Records Bureau’s data, a total of 4,37,396 road accidents were recorded in India in 2019. There are several reasons for these accidents and one of them is poorly maintained roads. Sometimes it becomes difficult for drives to determine the depth of small puddles due to water logging on the roads, potholes and unmarked speed breakers among other things. As a result, people are constantly looking for solutions to help make driving a safer experience and reduce risks due to the aforementioned issues. This is where HERE Technologies’ partnership with Intents Go App comes to play.
HERE Technologies and INTENTS MOBI have partnered to develop a technology solution – Intents Go – that will help address the rising road accidents and save thousands of lives that are lost due to speed breakers and potholes on Indian roads. HERE’s intelligent and powerful technology stack, will enable the Intents Go App to offer enhanced additional services such as information on weather and road conditions, beyond mere navigation.
A user who downloads the app will be alerted of potholes, speed breakers, water logging, landslides, etc., on a real time basis, as they drive through. The solution will also offer real-time traffic data that identifies traffic congestion areas and its reasons by delivering high-quality flow and incident content every minute. Built with HERE SDK, a comprehensive, mobile-ready location service that will provide an additional layer to navigation and mobility with routing, geocoding services, and complete search functionalities. The app uses activity detection to determine if a user is driving and can alert users even in the background, ensuring it doesn’t compete with any navigation technology directly.

Q. Please elaborate on ‘Intents Go’.
A. HERE Technologies has partnered with Intents Mobi, a technology driven company focused in providing information as a service to all industry segments that are related to transportation and commute. They have developed a mobile solution that aims to provide a safe driving experience on Indian roads. Each year, precious lives are lost due to speed breakers and potholes on roads, that lead to accidents. Our collaboration is a classic example of innovation and expertise. Intents Go, developed by Intents Mobi and powered by our HERE solutions, is a fully functional navigation app, that helps detect road surface conditions and alert users as they drive, of potholes, speed breakers, water logging, landslides and much more. Intents Mobi will be also offering Real-Time Traffic data that identifies traffic congestion areas and its reasons by delivering high-quality flow and incident content every minute.
Q. How do you manage to keep information on potholes etc. updated on the app?
A. One of the most important differentiators of Intents Go as an app is that its built in features of additional layers for navigation and mobility. For example, a user may choose to use native existing HereWeGo app, and have our app just installed on the phone. We use activity detection to determine if a user is driving and can alert users even in the background. Thus, we do not compete with any navigation technology directly. Additionally, Intents Go app uses HERE software development kit (SDK) features such as Routing, Traffic Layer, Places and Geocoding Services.
Q. By when will the app be available for public use?
A. The app is already available free for users to download from Google Play store. We will be very soon launching it on iOS as well.
Q. In which all cities will the app be available for use initially?
A. It is available across India.
Q. How useful would be the app for allied industries?
A. Beyond the end users of Intents Go, we believe the solution holds a tremendous value for the transport & logistics, supply chain and fleet management industries in India as well.
To put things in perspective, for the above-mentioned industries, one of the significant challenge is the retention of safe and experienced drivers, to ensure highest level of customer-brand experiences. This in turn means, that the onus lies on fleet managers to take steps that help reduce the possibility of accidents from occurring, while on road. Our location-embedded solutions enable them to monitor truck driver behavior; coach drivers about road safety and improve understanding of – and compliance with – posted speed limit data. It can also help to understand what the appropriate driver action is when taking elements such as traffic, weather conditions and other road legal and physical restrictions into account.
