President Dr. Arif Alvi admired the performance of University of Baltistan, Skardu in a teleconference held between the President and Chancellor of Baltistan University, Dr Arif Alvi, and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Baltistan, Skardu Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan.

President Dr. Arif Alvi admired the perfromance of University of Baltistan, Skardu in a teleconference held between the President and Chancellor of Baltistan University, Dr Arif Alvi, and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Baltistan, Skardu Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan.

Dr. Alvi expressed contentment over the brilliant performance of the University of Baltistan, Skardu (UOBS). He highlighted the significance for promoting the research process in the University and attracting PhD scholars towards the commercial aspect.

He also expressed his interest in professional training courses and stressed the need to increase the professional skills and attributes among the youth.

He praised the development of resource centres and launch of professional development courses. Vice Chancellor, UOBS, Prof Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan briefed the President regarding history, background and progress of the university. Despite of shortage of resources, the university combat the challenges and achieved fame with in short interval of time.

Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan briefed the president that the UOBS had made special preparations for online classes at the beginning to meet the upheavels during the pandemic Covid-19.

Pakistan’s role in regional peace lauded: “Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) while lauding Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s visit of Afghanistan said that Pakistan has always played positive role for peace and stability in Afghanistan”.

Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said that Pakistan has carried out worthy sacrifices for peace, freedom and stability in Afghanistan. He said peace and stability in Afghanistan and Pakistan is mutual, adding that Pakistan had in the past opened its gates for its Muslim Afghani brothers in 1980 during the guerrilla war Soviet-Afghan war.

Pakistan played a leading role in bringing Afghan Taliban and US leadership to come to speaking terms on the issue of long-term peace in Afghanistan and the world has acknowledged efforts of Pakistan and security forces of Pakistan to tackle Afghan issues in a gentle way with participation of all stakeholders.

Indian groups and other enemies of Pakistan aim at vandalizing Afghan peace process in order to accomplish their own interests and agendas.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Chief of Army Staff recently visited Afghanistan and had made it conveyed to world that Pakistan is the biggest supporter of peace and stability in Afghanistan.


Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi also highlighed that in the war against terrorism, Pakistan laid out sacrifices of over 80,000 people of Pakistan which included security officials with objectives to ensure peace in the region.

Pakistan Ulema Council also lauded decision of PTI government to appoint renowned ambassador Muhammad Sadiq as Special Representative to Afghanistan.

Ulema and religious scholars of Pakistan at every forum have denounced menace of extremism and terrorism and killings of innocent people in the world, Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said

The teachings of Quran-o-Sunnah also encourage mankind towards bringing peace and harmony in the world. Hafiz Tahir said that religious organisations of Pakistan echoes the visit of General Qamar Javed Bajwa to Afghanistan.
