Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry received criticism for pointing out the role of Pakistani universities in the battle against the Coronavirus pandemic in a country.
Fawad Chaudhry said in a tweet that “where are Pak Universities? Everywhere in the world Universities are providing guideline to the governments through leading research and policy papers, why Pakistan universities are silent spectators?
He further wrote in his tweet that “We need to up the game…Vc’s must initiate research up the game guys”.

One of the Twitter user said that “How can they research without funding”. The present government has slashed the education budget to such an extent that the institutions have to pay teachers salaries by taking loans. How do you expect them to conduct researches.
Another twitter user Nida Kirmani wrote that “other countries in the world the state provides sufficient resources to universities to be able to set up adequate research facilities. In our country, the state chooses to spend more on defense spending instead. Apne girebaan mein jhaanko before you start pointing fingers”.
