Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility program provided financial support to the tune of Rs8.245 million for provision of quality healthcare for disadvantaged communities residing around its operated Kandhkot and Adhi fields in Sindh and Punjab, respectively.
Acting Chief Community Development PPL Kamran Sher presented the cheque for Rs6.5 million to President Al Shifa Trust Eye Hospital (ASTEH) (retd) Major General Rehmat Khan in Rawalpindi for purchasing a phacoemulsification machine which is a state-of-the-art ophthalmic surgical equipment for ASTEH, Sukkur.
Similar equipment was earlier provided to ASTEH for healthcare units in Rawalpindi hospital. PPL and implementing partner ASTEH have been organizing bi-annual free-of-cost surgical eye camps for local communities around the company’s producing fields.
The PPL donated machines have not only enabled ASTEH to carry out painless and risk-free cataract surgeries during these camps but also reach underserved communities at ASTEH operated hospitals in Sukkur and Rawalpindi.
Earlier, Manager Adhi Field Shaheen Parwez Akhtar handed over a cheque for Rs1.745 million to Assistant Commissioner, Gujar Khan Hira Rizwan on February 6 for rehabilitation of Basic healthcare Units at the tehsil’s Sukho and Dhong villages located in District Rawalpindi. Member Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Sajid Mahmood was also present on the occasion.
