The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has publicized a final deadline for students which are before 15th December 2019 to get their laptops under Prime Minister’s Laptops Scheme.
Still approximately 8000 students selected in the prime minister Laptops scheme from various register universities from HEC across the country did not receive their laptops.
Prime Minister’s Laptops Scheme is for Talented Students with the main objective of this scheme is an attempt to enhance the scope of research and quality education in the country and increase the access to information technology.
This Laptops scheme was launched in 2013-14 as a part of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programs with a target to procure and distribute 100,000 laptops amongst the students studying in Pakistan and AJ&K. HEC was given the responsibility to devise the mechanism of distribution of 100,000 laptops after procurement through open competitive bidding.
According to the HEC official approximately 8000 students have been instructed to receive their laptops before the given deadline.
The official further said that out of total 400,000 laptops distributed among the top students enrolled in the higher educational institutions across the country, around 8000 were pending.
He added that “The students had been selected on merit basis but they couldn’t get their laptops due to some reasons”
Official answered the question that next deserving students will get laptops in case the eligible students failed to get their laptops.
