Life Paradox: We all are aware of a simple mathematical term ‘’probability’’. It’s simply the extent to which an event is likely to occur.
It is measured by the ratio of the favorable cases to the whole number of cases possible. Let us apply this concept to evolutionary theory.
Evolution vs Probability:
According to evolution some simple microorganism, more likely to be the simplest one i.e. Unicellular one was formed by the random combination of molecules (amino acids) and somehow a microorganism was formed.
Then it started to replicate and after a million-year process first multicellular species was born and that was the start of life for species like humans, animals, and plants.
Now let’s apply some mathematics to it. From simple calculation the probability for an enzyme or protein molecule to be formed randomly from the mixture of chemicals available on earth at that time it comes out to be staggering 1 in 10400.
That’s a huge number just to give you an idea how huge it is, consider all the atoms in the entire universe, by all I mean all, including ones in a core of the star to those at the edge of the universe, this number comes out to be ranging between 1078 to 1082.
Now if you use google calculator and just divide 10400 with 1082 then it will simply answer your question to be “infinity’’. But actually, it’s so large number that the probability of a simple protein to form is almost zero.
Contradiction with Calculations:
Age of earth it comes out to be 4.543 billion years and according to archeologists, the first organism on Earth was a single-celled micro-organisms or microbes lacking a cell nucleus or cell membrane called as prokaryotes, they seem to have first appeared on Earth almost four billion years ago, just a few hundred million years after the creation of the Earth itself.
As we all know that earth was formed from a protoplanetary disk, so it was hot at its initial stage for few millions of years. However, as conditions on earth became suitable for existence for life, somehow life pops out despite zero probability we calculated.
Now on one side, we calculated mathematically how it was impossible for life to form and on another side, how frequent in our case is formed.
What are we missing?
Clearly, the theory of evolution was a great step towards understanding our own creation but statistics shows that both approaches are a lot contradictory to each other. I think we really need a stable theory which could clearly answer contradictions.
Are we result of just some random combination of chemicals or we are just a computer simulation or an intelligent civilization made us?
Evolution is clearly not better in describing creation beside that it’s an excellent theory. We need some theory or proof and it can only be found in complex equations of mathematics and philosophy.
