The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prize is a unique international contest that recognizes the outstanding success, in implementing development oriented strategies that leverage the power of ICTs as an enabler of the development.
The contest puts special emphasis on achieving the United Nations General Assembly Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to empower the local communities by opting the models presented at WSIS.
This year 08th version of WSIS contest was held at Geneva, Switzerland from 08-12 April, 2019. “FAMBAAH” team a CUI Incubated startup from Pakistan, participated in the 2019 Champion award event with their project “IoT based Smart Home” in the category 10 ICT Applications: e-Health.
Each project had to go through a detailed examination of three rounds. For the first round of the event, 1140 nominations were received to WSIS in the category 10 ICT Applications: e-Health; 20 projects were selected for the second round and 05 projects made to the final round which were judged by a panel of 05 expert members.
CUI Incubated startup was successful to secure the “Champion of WSIS Prizes 2019” award by competing among the teams from all over the world. Dr. Aamir Rashed Chaudry received the award on behalf of the team. This award is recognition of CUI efforts to promote and strengthen the knowledge economy of Pakistan to support the local community by bringing sustainable and cost effective solutions.
