Youth Innovation Challenge PR: Jinnah University for Women recently participated in season 2 of Youth Innovation Challenge organized by Parhao Sabaq. Parhao Sabaq is an international platform where students and tutors are connected to spread knowledge in better quality. A real life case study challenge is a little effort to provide a trailer of market exposure to the students as well as to set their mind regarding what kind of real life problems an organization can face.

Organizations including Careem, Street Kitchen, Bounce, Business Plus, Billboard, Stancos (Pvt.) Ltd., Fm 89.4, Pakola, SOFT HOPE Engineering management, Bogo, Vital Tea, Indus Hospital, Ibex Global, Business Excellence Training, TPL Trakker, Feham Foods and many others. Case studies were taken from these organizations and groups of students from different universities were asked to find best possible solution in specified duration of time.
Dr. Irfan Hayder, Dean, IoBM, Mr. Anjum Rizvi, Senior Broadcaster BBC, Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television and Ms. Uzma Alkarim, Senior Anchor GEO TV and Head of Gender Sensitivity (GoS) graced the event as the guests of honor while Dr. Abdul Bari, CEO, Indus Hospital was the keynote speaker.

A team of 06 students participated in the competition; they were given the case study of Ibex Global. The theme of case was reasons behind the rapid turnover of employees. Around 05 to 06 groups were settled in one room and each room was assigned one case study.

The prize money was 1 million Rupees, which was to be divided between first 03 positions. Students were facilitated with two mentors of the same company of which they have been given a case study. Participating in such competition helps students to develop their theoretical understanding with the industry perspective while at the same time it is a long run benefit for the industry that their future employees will be aware of possible problems in their system and will be able to sort them out.

The first prizewinner was awarded with Rs. 75,000 while the second and third were awarded with Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively. The competition was not only to provide market exposure to the students but also to create better networking between the industry and academia. The kind of activities brings both sectors closer, which is helpful in understanding the needs and requirements of academia as well as the industry.
