Former chairman of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad funeral prayer was offered at H-11 Graveyard, Islamabad on Sunday.
General Zubair Mahmood Hayat Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee (CJCSC), Dr. Fayyazuddin senior scientist, Dr. Ansar Pervez former chairman of PAEC, civil and military leadership participated in the funeral prayer.
A large community of scientists from National Center for Physics, Pakistan Academy of Sciences, Strategic Plans Division and NESCOM were also participated in the funeral.
Dr. Ashfaq Ahmad was born in Gurdaspur on November 3, 1930. He received early education from Pakistan directorate degree college Canada. He was one of the main force behind nuclear tests on 28 May 1998.
He served and helped Pakistan produce atomic energy, electricity and helped in agriculture sector as well. He was given Sitara-e-Imtiaz by Benazir Bhutto in 1989, Hilal-e-Imtiaz in 1995 and Nishan-e-Imtiaz in 1998.
He passed away at the age of 87 and left behind his widow, 2 sons and grandchildren.
He said every Pakistani was indebted to Dr. Ishfaq Ahmad for his selfless services.
