The Ministry of Climate Change (MoCC) is planning an agreement of partnership with Civil Society Coalition for Climate Change (CSCCC) that is a non-governmental organization (NGOs).
The purpose of this memorandum of understanding (MOU) is to collaborate on sustainable climate actions, ecosystem protection, community well-being, natural resources management and environmental conservation and economic development in Pakistan.
“The MoCC in the past has failed and created different committees of think-tanks ostensive civil society members and NGOs to coordinate national and international efforts for enabling an environment for climate change edition and vindication measures,” a former MoCC official told The Express Tribune on the condition of anonymity.
He recalled that ministry had notified a similar navigation committee to organize national and international efforts for promotion of climate compatible energy in March 2016. “These past experiences proved merely talks, meetings, and press statements but nothing,” he lamented, adding that ministry should facilitate CSCCC members in terms of visas for traveling on cause of international conferences and seminars as climate change and technical experts.
The MOCC Deputy Director Media and Communication Saleem Shaikh said that the objective of this supportive relationship will be to contribute to sustainable and effective climate actions, ecosystem protection, community well-being, natural resources management and environmental conservation as integral components of social and economic development of Pakistan.
