Chairman Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda), Muzammil Hussain visited 4th Extension Hydropower Project of 1,410MW at Tarbela and reviewed the construction progress of the project.
WAPDA authorities, representatives, consultants, and contractors briefed the chairman for the progress they have achieved in the project. They also discussed the challenges the project faced.
Hussain said, ” the pace of the construction of the project Tarbela 4th Extension is satisfactory”.
He added that WAPDA is confident to complete Extension Hydropower in distinct phases from Feb to May 2018. Management needs efforts to meet the timeline implementation of the project.
Chairman hoped that project management will meet timeline with their efforts. This is a prioritize project of WAPDA that holds a capacity of 1410MW. It has three generating units each with 470MW capacity. They are being constructed at Tunnel 4 of the Tarbela Dam.
This project will increase generation capacity of 4,888MW from its current capacity. It is another step to fight an energy crisis of the country.
