STAFF REPORT ISB: The meeting of Committee of Heads of University Grants Commission (UCG) of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) was held recently with the aim to find avenues for regional cooperation in order to uplift the quality of education, research in the region for sustainable growth and development through joint efforts, collaborations and cooperation. This was the 10th meeting of UCG Committee of Heads.


Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) took charge as Chairperson of SAARC UGC. He expressed his pleasure at hosting the event in Pakistan and said that investing in education is the basic tool for national development of any country. He stressed that the SAARC countries faced similar challenges and collaborations and cooperation in RandD couldyield fruitful results for all member countries.


Sartaj Aziz,Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, complimented the delegates and stressed on mutual cooperation to obtain desired objectives. He also appreciated the laborious efforts of HEC in surfacing the education sector of Pakistan in line with the future needs and tailoring it with the objectives of SAARC.


The delegates from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal and Srilanka participated in the meeting.
