Staff Report ISD: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has unveiled two illegal gateway exchanges in Lahore in their crack down operation in an effort to control grey traffick.
Two successful raids against the grey operators were carried out jointly with FIA team at two different sites of Lahore. First raid was carried out at residential house, Safari Villas, Sector-B, Bahria Town. An illegal exchange comprising of 2×16 ports, two devices, two modems, one TP-Link and other digital media including hundreds of SIMs were confiscated. Second raid was carried out at residential house, Street No.3, Muslim Colony, Bistami Road, Samanabad. An illegal exchange comprising of 2×16 and 3×8 ports, three devices, thirteen TP-Link and other digital media and hundreds of SIMs were confiscated from the spot. Two persons were arrested and were in FIA custody for further investigation.
The raids against the grey operators were successful due to continuous monitoring, commitment and persistent efforts by PTA in impeding the nuisance of grey traffic thus restricting the loss to the national exchequer because of grey traffickers in the country.
