96 teachers from Public and Private Schools in Pakistan participated in the ceremony
Islamabad,December 3, 2014– Intel Pakistan today organized the Intel Education Awards Ceremony, under the Intel Education Initiative, to recognize the impressive performance in technology integration by teachers and schools across Pakistan. Present at the occasion was Dr. Fazllullah Pechuho, Secretary Education, Education and Literacy Department, Government of Sindh as the chief guest.
Of all the participants in the Intel Teach Program contest, 24 won awards, in recognition of their accomplishments in implementing technology to promote inquiry-based learning.
“Intel has made consistent efforts for recognizing the teachers and schools taking part in this initiative and rewarding them for their laudable efforts in implementing ICT in their classrooms, in turn facilitating a conducive environment to experience technology within the education system” said Naveed Siraj, Country Manager, Intel Pakistan. “Intel Pakistan is working hand in hand with the government to make the dissemination of and access to technology easily and beneficial for students and teachers alike.”
The Intel Education Awards are held annually in Pakistan to celebrate and reiterate the importance of technology in the classroom. The award aims to appreciate and encourage teachers to use technology for enhancing skills amongst students. 96 teachers from all across Pakistan participated in the contest from 43 institutions.
After several rounds of rigorous judgment and site visits 24 teachers have won grand award positions in 8 different categories. Out of the overall 96 contestants, 36 Government, 20 semi-government and 40 private school teachers submitted their classroom implemented Unit Portfolios to the panel of evaluators, based on the Intel Teach Getting Started, Intel Teach Elements and the Intel Teach Essentials Course content.
The Intel Teach Program is designed to enable teachers to effectively use technology to enhance student learning in the digital world. Intel to date has trained more than 340,000 teachers in Pakistan, reaching out to over 57 cities and districts of Pakistan, focusing on integrating technology and modern teaching methods in the teaching and learning process in Pakistan.
